Clanton, Alabama

About

The City of Clanton was founded by Alfred Baker in 1868. Prior to its establishment, the community was known as "Goose Pond."

Located in the heart of Alabama on Interstate 65, halfway between the cities of Birmingham and Montgomery, Clanton is a prime location for business and industrial development. It is Clanton's proximity to the new automobile plants in the state that has made our city the site of two automotive parts manufacturers since 1999.

Clanton's city parks and recreation facilities are beautiful, convenient and offer something for everyone year-round. We are a 26 year participant in the Tree City USA program.  Our city parks and beautification departments are active in keeping our city in top shape. Future plans include adding more recreational areas including; a dog park, splash pad, bicycle, and walking trails.

If you are in or around the city be sure and stop at Exit 212 and see our "Big Peach" water tower, one of only two in the world. Come into our downtown and take a picture with one of several murals, shop, eat and pick out a book from one of our Little Free Library boxes.

Clanton has so much to offer whether you're a visitor, a business owner, or looking to call Clanton your full time home. We welcome you to come see us and experience for yourself why people love our city.
